SteamPunk inspired Agenda Cover (WIP): Update

Here's an update on the image I'm creating. As I mentioned it's inspired by steampunk, but it's fusing old computer technology with current and future technology (laser tables, and atari 2600's as an example).

I'm happy with the way it's coming along. I still need to figure out what I'm doing with the shoes and then I'll start with the colouring.

Project 2: Multiview (Dump)

Just an update on the Multiview Monitor project I'm working on, once again it's hard to find enough time to work on it. However I have made some progress. This is a bit of a dump of a lot of the work I've done thus far.
Concept Art(some):
Some of the Characters I'm working on (ma, pa, granny). I'm liking the style I'm heading in with these characters.

This Character is my favourite (the Teen). I thought it kind of captures that awkward confidence you have when your a teen.

My concept art for the Mermaids. They don't really reflect the kind of cartoony feel of the characters above, but that's the way I'm trying to make this new planet look and feel (the spider creature on one of my previous posts reflects this).

Here's a render of one of the other creatures that will inhabit the planet. I really like the way this guy is looking right now. I'm working on trying out some different types of rigs to find out what will give him the best range of motion.

Here's a test render I did with the Teen, who I'm also in the process of rigging. I've been fooling around a lot with Mental Ray for these renders which I just found out the multiview monitor plugin doesn't support.

So that concludes the update on this project and I'll try and post some test animations

SteamPunk inspired Agenda Cover (WIP)

So, here's something a little different I'm working on. It's a 2D image for an Agenda cover, you can see previous ones I've done on my website www.jpgoetz.com, it's kind of inspired by a lot of the steampunk art that's out there. I wouldn't call it an actual steampunk image; but that was my main inspiration at any rate.

This is still a work in progress and there a couple things I need to work on such as the face and left arm; and I think she could do with some breast reduction as well. I also like my original sketch with loose flowing hair better so I'll probably change that.

Feel free to leave any comments regarding anything to do with the image that may improve it overall.

Software: Photoshop
Hardware: Wacom Cintiq

Project 1: Goliath --Update (3)

It's been a while since I posted my progress. It's taking me a long time to find any time to work on Goliath. However, I did, just recently, get him into zbrush. So far it's proven to be a bit of a tricky task to figure out where all his muscles should belong and the head doesn't seem to be very co-operative. But I'm going to plug away until I get it roughly where I want, re-topologize (I think that's a word) and see how he looks.

Here's a screenshot out of zbrush. It's still very early in the sculpting stage, but any comments/input on the anatomy would be most helpful.

Mental Ray cheese platter: update (2)

Ok, so I think I have the grape texture working properly now. The next step is to get the tray looking like a silver platter and fill it up with the cheese, strawberries and grapes (maybe some other stuff as well). Then perhaps I'll work on the rest of the environment surrounding the tray.

Mental Ray cheese platter: update

Here's another test render, working on making a grape shader now. So far it's not working overly well. Hopefully I can get it right soon.

Mental Ray cheese platter

Just me fooling around with Mental Ray and fast skin shaders. I might go as far as to finish off this scene. We'll see how much time I have.
