Project 1: Goliath -- Update (2)

Well, I've finished the modeling (more or less) and I'm trying to get the UVs setup and ready to export for Zbrush. Should hopefully have that done soon. It's been hard to find the time to work on him lately. However, if you follow the link below to my christmas animation I've set him up as an ice sculpture in it.

Christmas Animation 2007

I just added a new animation on my website. It's a short 30 second christmas animation that I did in about 5 days. The entire animation was pretty much a learning project for me. This animation is the first one I've done with mental ray for maya. Also I decided to do some "puppeteering" in After Effects with the 2D characters. I had fun doing it and I learned a lot working on it and I hopefully am able to use this style of animation again and improve upon it.

Project 2: Newsight 3D Monitor Project

This is a project I've been working on for a little while now off and on. It's for being shown on a Newsight multiview 3d monitor.

check out www.newsight.com for more information on their products.

Here's just a couple of images from it.

Project 1: Goliath -- Update

Here's the first couple images of the base mesh, as I mentioned earlier it's not completed yet.

As you may, or may not, be able to tell I'm adding a lot more detail than the cartoon had and I'm trying to make it as believable as I can. This model is currently at around 2800 polygons; so it's pretty low poly.

All comments are welcome.

Project 1: Goliath

For all those fans of the Disneys 90's animated cartoon "Gargoyles" have I got a treat, of sorts, for you. I'm building the main character Goliath using a combination of Maya and Zbrush. I will keep this blog updated on the progress. I'm currently working on building the "base" mesh and should be ready for some Zbrush action shortly.

Once I have the model completed, I plan on animating him breaking out of stone. For this I'm thinking I might try out the program Houdini for the particle effects.

I'll post some images shortly.

Hello

I'm starting up a blog here to show some of my works in progress, and to receive feedback on them. Most of these works will consist of 3D projects, but the occasional 2D work may slip in.
